Even if you’re from Seattle you may not know that some of these companies do, or have in the past called Seattle home.

1. UPS

Founded in Seattle as the American Messenger Company; 1907.

On August 28, 1907, 19-year-old James E. ("Jim") Casey borrowed $100 from a friend and established the American Messenger Company in Seattle. In 1919, the company made its first expansion to Oakland, California and adopted the name we know it by today, the United Parcel Service. In 1975, UPS moved its headquarters to Greenwich, Connecticut. The company now calls Sandy Springs, Georgia, home.

Originally located at 2nd and Main in Pioneer Square.
