SUVs belonging to an Arlington couple who was reported missing on Monday were found in Snohomish County.

Patrick Shunn’s and Monique Patenaude’s vehicles — a Land Rover and a Jeep — were spotted from a helicopter in a remote, wooded area of Oso on Thursday, the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office says.

Shunn was last seen at his workplace in Kirkland on Monday. He did not report for work on Tuesday.

Patenaude was last seen Monday at around 1 p.m. near the couple’s house in the 27800 block of Whitman Road.

Detectives were expected to make the trek to the vehicles Friday. Both appear to have gone over an embankment and were found in the same general area.

Erik Shunn, Patrick’ Shunn’s brother, wrote KIRO 7 Tuesday about the missing married couple. He said they were missing under unusual circumstances after an ongoing land dispute with a neighbor.

Calls to the couple’s cell phones go directly to voicemail and their dogs and livestock were left unattended.

“What makes this suspicious for detectives is the fact that Patrick and Monique, it’s very unusual for them not to be in touch with family and friends this long,” Snohomish County sheriff’s spokesman Shari Ireton said.

Families of the missing couple spoke out on national media Thursday to get the word out about their disappearance.

“I have a really bad gut feeling about this. I have a really, really bad gut feeling. And I felt like that from the start,” said Erik Shunn.

The Everett Herald reports the couple was scheduled to be at a court hearing last week about the land dispute. That hearing was rescheduled for May.

Deputies have not said if neighbors have anything to do with the couple’s disappearance.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office at (425) 388-7939 or 911 and reference missing person case #2016-55130 for Patrick Shunn and case # 2016-55173 for Monique Patenaude.
