UPDATE:Oracle CEO Larry Ellison has reached
agreement to purchase the island of Lanai, ending
speculation Bill Gates was a leading candidate to buy it.

We’d all love to own a little piece of tropical paradise,
but few of us can afford our own island. Luckily for Bill
Gates, price is no issue. And there’s plenty of
speculation
he’s a leading candidate to buy the Hawaiian island of
Lanai.

The Pacific Business News reports
the billionaire who currently owns the island is putting
it on the market and it is expected to sell fast.

The asking price isn’t being disclosed, but it’s
reportedly over $500 million.

Gates and his wife Melinda rented the entire island for
their wedding in 2004. It’s the sixth-largest of the
Hawaiian islands.

But Gates could have some competition from a rival tech
titan. Reports say Oracle founder Larry Ellison, who also
has a home on Lanai, is also a likely candidate for the
island.
