In a tough real estate market, how do you make your home
stand out? A woman from Beaverton, Oregon came up with a
pretty unique solution.

“Husband Left Us for a 22 Year Old…House For Sale by
scorned, slightly bitter, newly single OWNER,” reads the
sign on the lawn of the home that Elle Zober is trying to
sell.

Zober is selling the home herself, without a real estate
agent, and tells 97.3 KIRO FM’s Ross and Burbank Show she
hoped the sign would drum up some interest.

The sign’s message is based on facts. Back in April, Zober
discovered her husband was having an affair with a 22-
year-old.

While she acknowledges the experience of losing her
husband has been “horrific,” she says it was time to move
on and a big part of that involved selling the family
home.

Understand the money from the sale of the home would help
both her and her ex-husband get settled elsewhere, Zober
asked his permission before posting the sign.

“He was like, ‘I think it’s hilarious. It’s genius. I
think it will work,'” says Zober.

“Really the means was selling the house,” says Zober. “The
point of the sign was to try to be like, we’re selling the
house. We want to sell it quick and here’s why. We’re not
abandoning it. We’ve taken good care of it. We love this
house. You’ll love it too. Buy our house.”

The sign was put out on Friday and quickly gained national
and even international attention, something that Zober
says she wasn’t expecting.

“We were just trying to move forward based on the advice
of the counselor and the books I’ve been reading and just
trying to do our best to co-parent. We really weren’t
expecting the international interest in a sign that I
stuck in my lawn Friday.”

After a few days, and a lot of news headlines, the sign
appears to be working. Zober says she’s received many
calls, a few from folks who seem to have a genuine
interest in the property.

The three bedroom single family home with a detached
garage is being offered at $169,000. Potential buyers can
call 971-258-3726 or visit greatfamilyhome.com for more information.
But note the fine print on the sign: “Adulterers Need Not
Apply.”
