Do NOT Read This Post

–Producer Phil writes

I was listening to 710 KIRO competitor Air America yesterday for a few minutes and heard something puzzling.

Hopefully I don’t get fired for this admission of listening to one of 710 KIRO’s competitors but I tuned to the Seattle Air America affiliate because I wanted to hear the pre-game for the WSU/UCLA basketball game.

I tuned in too early and heard regularly scheduled Air America programming: Randi Rhodes (not to be confused with Ozzy Osbourne’s original guitarist when he went solo from Black Sabbath).

So anyway. As a political observer willing to listen to other people’s opinions, (even though I may vociferously disagree) I continued to listen even though I was aiming to find college basketball.

Ms. Rhodes was discussing the profusion of political analysis from SuperTuesday and the presidential campaigns when she referenced, “Puerto Rico”.

From context, Ms. Rhodes indicated that as all the media political pundits analyzed the presidential delegate count, some of those pundits have jokingly referenced that Puerto Rico could end up deciding which Democratic party candidate secures the nomination.

Ms. Rhodes singled out HBO host Bill Maher (see below) as making extensive reference to the Puerto Rico connection and she was upset about this because Ms. Rhodes herself had done this on her show several weeks prior.

Ms. Rhodes went on to lament that she didn’t like it when other people took her ideas, in essence saying she didnt like it when other people co-opted her intellectual property.

For real?

Ms. Rhodes doesn’t like it when other people take her stuff?

Considering the liberal advocacy that I can only assume Ms. Rhodes routinely enumerates since she is, after all, a host on Air America, I find it incredibly hypocritical for Ms. Rhodes to say she doesn’t like it when other people take her stuff.

Most liberal political advocates espouse a variety of forms of tax and spend, economic redistribution that take from productive members of America and give (GIVE) to unmotivated, unorganized and aimless individuals.

Now, to be fair to Ms. Rhodes, she did go on to clarify that she was upset with these other media members who globbed on to her Puerto Rico joke for not giving her credit for being the source of that joke. But her first impulse, her first instinct was to say that she didn’t like it when other people took her idea(s).

Can’t have it both ways Madame Talk Show Host.
