The Seattle Center and I are almost exactly the same age. I don’t feel that old (ignore my basketball post below). So why are officials treating the Center like a doddering old park that’s deserving of euthanasia?

 

Yet another plan for the Seattle Center was unveiled Monday. It involves getting rid of much of the kitsch that I love about the Center. The Fun Forest… gone. Memorial Stadium… razed. The Center House (we natives still call it the Food Circus)… redesigned.

 

All of those locales have very personal memories for me – stories I’ll share on Tuesday’s Big Show. I know time and progress march on… but can’t we keep a couple slices of the cheese… the kitsch… from Seattle’s past? (and… NO… I’m not talking about the Ballard Denny’s.
