Save Our Children…But This Is Just Creepy

Chris the Producer wrote:

Recently Dori talked about an incident where Eastern Washington high school wrestlers are having their picture taken and then sold on E-Bay to what is assumed to be a perverted predators. Looking at the pictures it was quite obvious that the photographer was not taking the photo’s to show off the athleticism of the young men. You can hear the audio from the show here. Just scroll down to the March 4th Show.

I for one am all for protecting the children of this world. I truly believe that the men and women who prey on little children should be sent off to prison for the rest of their lives and never have an opportunity for parole. The pedophiles that commit these crimes are just the scum of the earth and in my opinion worse than a murderer.

But I took one look at this picture and read the story that accompanied it and knew that we have gone a little to far.

A school in Essex, England has taken all of their public photo’s and put the Acid House smiley face over the kids. Representatives of the schools said that all this was in order to protect the identity of the children from pedophiles.

Now I can understand wanting to protect your child from predators, but this is completely over the top. What is the point of using the pictures in any way. Why not just put up manikins in certain poses and take pictures of them. You could have a whole classroom full of these fake children and not one child would be harmed in the process.

Imagine a full classroom with children that never talk back, never horse play and never ask to go to the bathroom. These manikin children will be the best students a teacher ever has and the photographer will always get the prime shot. All in the sake of protecting the children.

Another thing that I noticed is that with these new altered photo’s all the kids look like the students in Pink Floyd’s The Wall. You know the ones. They go into a machine and then come out all the same. The overall theme was that society just made us lemmings as long as we didn’t think to far outside of the box. This has nothing really to do with anything, but I did see the correlation between the two.

All in all I say that while protecting the children of this world is a very important part of society, they are after all the future, this school has taken things one step…no make that fifty steps into the pool of crazy. C’mon and stop trying to treat everything with, for lack of a better word(s), “kids gloves”.
