Mixtape
Gary Wilson is weird.
Sunday night while I was sipping on a little (ok, a lot) of Jim Beam, I began sifting though my record collection with the hope of finding something I hadn’t heard in a while. That’s when I found this gem…
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre anyone?
The vinyl had been in its plastic packaging for nearly 5 years without a listen! With cover art so completely creepy and strange I’m surprised I hadn’t listened sooner. So, with some whisky coating my belly and bad desicions corroding my brain I decided to give it a listen…
Gary Wilson is best known for his 1977 album ‘You Think You Really Know Me’ but never really had any major success. After a 1981 American tour he retired from any further recording and dropped out of the public eye. He’s always had somewhat of a cult following and this record, ‘Mary Had Brown Hair’, was released in 2004 after a rediscovery of Gary Wilson, experimental savant.
Gary Wilson is my new favorite.
