Video interview: Robert Osborne, host of TCM

Osborne with Alec Baldwin on the TCM set

I’m a big fan of Robert Osborne, the dapper and debonair host of Turner Classic Movies. His genial introductions to the great (and sometimes not so great) films of yesteryear are a welcome relief from the hyperkinetic mode of most TV hosts. He’s here in Seattle to accept a SIFF award for TCM, and to introduce,in his inimitable style, four of his favorite classic films – SUNSET BOULEVARD, THE THIRD MAN, THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD, and the little seen DODSWORTH, with Walter Huston.

Enjoy my interview with the pride of Colfax, Washington …
Osborne goes on to explain that his next shoot, in early June, will include his 50,000 film intro. This means he has introduced himself to you as Robert Osborne 50,000 times.
SUNSET BOULEVARD plays Saturday 1:30pm Harvard Exit
THE THIRD MAN plays Sunday 11am Harvard Exit
THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD plays Saturday 11am Harvard Exit
DODSWORTH plays Sunday 1:30pm Harvard Exit
