Woman sentenced for role in Lakewood guard killing
The last of eight people convicted in connection with the shooting death of a Loomis guard in Lakewood has been sentenced for helping the killers.
After Kurt Husted was ambushed at a Walmart store in June 2009, the getaway driver took two killers to the home of Natalie Brechbiel.
“They went inside Brechbiel’s home and Natalie Brechbiel ended up driving those three guys to other locations and thereby avoiding apprehension,” Deputy Pierce County Prosecutor Jerry Costello says.
A judge sentenced Brechbiel to 12 months in jail.
Costello says four people were convicted of murder or aggravated murder and four others for helping the killers after the crime.
Costello says the brazen, daytime ambush shocked the community.
“The community is right to be outraged when you have a predatory attack on a person who’s just trying to do their job and it happens in a public place in front of many people.”
