Residents in Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood are nervous after one of their own was brutally beaten.

Matthew Hale, 69, was walking home just after midnight Thursday morning, when he was attacked by four men, who stole his wallet and stomped on his head.

Hale was transported to Harborview Medical Center and is in serious condition.

Hale’s neighbors told KING 5 he was a great friend to them.

“The same day he got hit he was here to help me with my taxes,” says friend Bali Kahn.

Police are investigating any possible leads.
