The gates are open at Genessee Park, and Seafair organizers say if you haven’t been in a few years, it might be time to give it another try.

“A lot of people really don’t know that there is a full on festival out there. There’s live entertainment, there’s music, there’s a ton of exhibits and interaction,” says Melissa Jurcan with Seafair. “There’s a lot of different activities out here in addition to the boat racing and the airplanes.”

Jurcan tells 97.3 KIRO FM Seattle’s Morning News that visitors will find food, music, live entertainment, kids inflatables, and tons of exhibits packed into Genessee Park, and that those who are skeptical can test the waters Friday.

“Today is a free day down at the park, so if they want to come to get a test drive and check out what Seafair is all about, then they sure could come down now,” she says.

The weather forecast for Seafair weekend in Seattle shows clouds clearing out Saturday for temperatures in the mid-70s.

Jurcan says while a cold and rainy June and July has left Seattleites aching for sun, this weekend on the lake will give them a real taste of summer.

“I think with Seafair and sun, officially the summer is here in Seattle.”
