Western Washington University reports anti-Semitic incidents

BELLINGHAM, Wash. (AP) — Western Washington University officials say they are forming a task force after several anti-Semitic incidents earlier this year.

The Seattle Times reports (http://goo.gl/4FvrTu ) a university equality committee investigated four reported incidents and three were determined to be anti-Semitic.

The university in Bellingham is releasing few details about the incidents, citing confidentiality for those involved.

President Bruce Shepard said in a message to school faculty, staff and students that a new task force would recommend ways to educate and help people better understand the impact of anti-Semitic actions.

The group is to work with another task force, on equity, inclusion and diversity, which will make recommendations to address discrimination on campus.

The university may invite speakers, hold workshops or host other awareness events “that aim to further dialogue and understanding of this important issue.”
