Porn addiction’s devastating spread
In an alarming cover story, TIME magazine is warning Americans about a new epidemic that’s devastating adolescent and young-adult males, and that’s the spread of pornography addiction. Because the internet is flooded with free porn, and young men can access it on many mobile devices in total privacy, this destructive habit is poisoning the intimate lives of American men and even undermining their ability to enjoy normal sexuality in marriage. As with other addictions, the victims often feel powerless to resist graphic and exploitative material, spending more and more time in its consumption and demanding ever more shocking excesses to get the same thrill. Studies show that most males get their first porn exposure between the ages of 11 and 13, and more than one-fifth of all Google searches reportedly involve hard-core pornography. Fathers need to do more to protect their children
– and themselves
– from this ruinous indulgence.
