Possible human remains found in Seattle recycling bin

Possible human remains were discovered in a recycling bin outside a Seattle home on Saturday afternoon.

A homeowner in the 1600 block of 21st Avenue – in Seattle’s Central District neighborhood – called 911 and reported finding the suspicious items in a recycling bin.

Responding patrol officers, homicide detectives, and the King County Medical Examiner have confirmed the presence of likely human remains outside the home.

The medical examiner’s office has taken custody of the remains for further investigation.

Sgt. Mike Renner tells The Seattle Times the parts were “fresh.”

Police say they searched other bins in the area but found nothing of note.

Investigators are canvassing the neighborhood and asking anyone with any information Seattle police at (206) 233-5000.
