Singapore man charged with illegal exports to Iran

WASHINGTON (AP) — A Singapore man accused of illegally exporting technology later found in improvised explosive devices in Iran has been extradited to the United States to face charges.

The Justice Department on Monday announced that Lim Yong Nam, who’s also known as Steven Lim, has arrived in Washington. He had been detained in Indonesia since October 2014.

Lim is charged with helping export thousands of radio frequency modules from the U.S. to Iran in 2007 and 2008. Prosecutors say at least 16 of the modules were later found in unexploded IEDs in Iraq.

Lim, who was indicted in 2010, is scheduled to make his first court appearance later Monday in federal court in Washington.
