Communities in Schools of Seattle is part of the nation’s leading community-based organization helping kids succeed in school and prepare for life. CIS is credited as being the largest stay-in-school network in the country. We understand that schools can’t do it alone. In communities across our state network, we connect students in need with volunteers and services that relieve obstacles to learning. By channeling community support directly to kids at school Communities In Schools promotes student success, eases the burden on schools and frees teachers to teach.

The fundamental beliefs of every CIS program are that every child needs and deserves:

• A personal one-on-one relationship with a caring adult

• A safe place to learn and grow

• A healthy start in life

• A marketable skill to use upon graduation
