With an estimated 700,000 people in downtown Seattle for the Seahawks Super Bowl celebration, there is sure to be a traffic nightmare.

Already, there’s a nine mile backup on northbound I-5 with two crashes – one at 175th in Shoreline, another at 196th in Lynnwood. Not to mention, two lanes of northbound Highway 99 are blocked at 185th in Shoreline.

Expect delays on the Seattle-Bremerton ferry route, which was overwhelmed Wednesday morning as fans were trying to make their way to the parade route. At one point, the walk-on line was about five blocks long. Check for alerts

The Washington State Department of Transportation said it took six to seven hours to fill Seattle with 700,000 people and likely the same amount of time to get traffic back to normal.

Link Light Rail

Taking public transportation is encouraged. Link Light Rail will run about every 7.5 minutes throughout the afternoon and evening. Check rider alerts

Sounder

The Sounder Train added three additional cars headed northbound from King Street Station (#1700) at 4:05 p.m. and (#1702) at 4:33 p.m. There’s also a 6:30 p.m. train. The first trains south left the station at 2:30 p.m. “All other regular weekday trains will also be in service.” Check for alerts

King County Metro

King County Metro has added extra buses. It had about 60 additional buses during the morning commute, but the coaches were packed full of the 12th Man. Check rider alerts
