Homeless Chic: Your Bed Can Look Like a Cardboard Box
By Rachel Belle
This new duvet cover, designed to look just like a cardboard box, has stirred up some controversy. According to Dutch by Design, “30% of the gross profits go to Centrepoint, the UK charity for homeless young people aged 16-25. Every night Centrepoint provides support and housing for 800 vulnerable homeless young people.”
Sounds like a nice idea, right? But many people in the comments section of the home decor website, Apartment Therapy , think it’s tasteless and tacky. The argument is that anyone who buys the $90 duvet will be comfortably snuggled up under the 144 thread count blanket, inside their warm home, while real homeless people are outside, sleeping under real boxes.
My verdict: that is one ugly bedspread.
p.s. Pillowcases cost extra!
