Raul Castro meets the press

Cuban President Raoul Castro did not greet President Obama at the Havana airport, and even Donald Trump said it was rude.

“I thought it was very disrespectful,” Trump said.

But the president managed to get back at Castro by dragging him into a news conference. Now Raoul Castro never holds news conferences. He doesn’t have to suck up to pubic opinion. He was elected unanimously.

You could tell he hated the whole thing. While Mr. Obama was talking, you could hear some guy clearing his throat.

It’s the president of Cuba. I know he’s 84, but still. Step away from the mic.

I was getting worried about the guy, especially when NBC’s Andrea Mitchell asked her question about locking up political prisoners.

“We have such profound disagreements about the very definitions of what human rights mean as … prisons today,” she said.

Castro did give an answer, implying there are no political prisoners in Cuba.

“What political prisoners? Give me a name. And if we have those political prisoners, they will be released before the tonight ends,” Castro said, through a translator.

To which I would just say AHEM.
