Getting old really, really…

Sucks.

I just got home from playing basketball. I rent a gym every Thursday night from 9-11pm. It’s a great group of guys. Two of us are part of the original group that started 25 years ago when I was 21. Most of us have been playing together for at least 15 years.

We play nine months of the year – take summers off. It’s a wonderful tradition. My wife knows to never schedule anything on a Thursday. But, good golly Miss Molly, I played awful tonight. I used to be able to jump – I’m 5’9″ but I could dunk a tennis ball – now, I can barely touch the net. I was a pretty good 3-point shooter… now, I’m erratic at best…

I guess my friends are all getting older too. So, in theory, we should be slowing down at roughly the same rate. That’s the good thing about playing with the same people for so many years.

I used to think I’d play until I was 60… but, man, this is getting embarassing. Anybody know of a 46-and-older league anywhere?

By the way, this will come up in a topic I’m considering for Friday’s show. i saw a story about how fewer people are playing golf because they don’t have the time. What passions have you had to abandon in your life because you simply don’t have the time?

I should have some Friday show notes up sometime in the next couple hours…
