Memorial service honors life of man killed in Kirkland road rage crash

Friends and family of a beloved Google developer killed in a drunk driving – road rage crash, gathered in a Bellevue church, and online, to pay tribute to Steve Lacey.

Lacey hailed from the United Kingdom, but during his years at Microsoft and most recently Google, his mother Janet Lacey said he touched many lives locally.

“I know we will never see our wonderful husband, father, son and brother again but he will always be in our hearts and minds,” Janet said at the service.

Other friends remembered Lacey fondly, speaking before the group of mourners about his humbleness, kindness, and his courageous and loving spirit.

Lacey was making a Costco run last Sunday when Patrick Rexroat smashed into him, killing the 43-year-old husband and father of two.

Rexroat remains jailed on $1 million bail. His blood alcohol level was more than three times the legal limit.
