Hundreds of additional troops will arrive at Joint Base Lewis-McChord at a ceremony on Monday.

The base will be the new headquarters for the 16th Combat Aviation Brigade. About 200 soldiers and 10 helicopters are moving from Alaska, and others are coming from Fort Hood, Texas.

A total of 1,400 soldiers and 44 helicopters will arrive over the next three years. That will increase the base population to about 45,000, the most since the Vietnam War.
