Paddleboarder dies after fall in Lake Washington

Despite heroic rescue efforts, a 35-year-old man has died after falling off his paddleboard near Kirkland.

People on shore near David Brink Park were concerned that the man might be in trouble after he fell off his rented board. But he said he was okay. A short time later, there were cries for help.

A man who lives nearby grabbed his snorkel gear and pulled the man from the bottom of the lake.

Kirkland police say another passerby performed CPR. It appeared he was breathing but police say the man died after being rushed to Evergreen Hospital.
