Trump is a danger to the very idea of conservatism

Since I came out and said that I can’t vote for Trump in the General Election, I’ve received so many angry emails and tweets from Trump supporters.

Now, I could ride the fence like an old time radio host and say that I’m neutral, but I don’t want to lie to you. In a way, I’m an activist. I think we all are, in the sense that we should act on our beliefs.

I understand listeners’ frustration with my knocking of Trump on the air. But my concern with Trump winning is that he will be the final distortion of what it used to mean to be a Conservative. If Trump is elected and turns out to be the man that he has actually been the past 70 years, a New York liberal, he’ll insert more government into our lives.

Trump wants to tax companies more, not get the Federal Government out of the game. And Trump has said he wants an expansion of ObamaCare.

And then people will think that’s what Republicans are. Then a generation will think Conservatism is just a continuation of the Status Quo.

Hillary is dangerous as well. But with Trump, I think he’s a danger to Republicans themselves. Hillary could be dangerous to the country but she can’t destroy the idea of conservatism. Trump could destroy the philosophy and principles that we hold as our core.

We can come back from a Hillary presidency, but if conservatism dies how do we ever come back?
