Ted Cruz, fear in D.C. and the soul of conservatism

Sen. Ted Cruz speaks at a campaign stop at the University of Maine in Orono, Maine on Friday. (AP)

I’m starting to be energized by what I’m seeing. It seems there is an actual debate going on about the soul of conservatism. And people are questioning who actually runs this country.

The RNC, the Senate Majority leader and the Speaker of the House are going to have to come to grips with co-governing with the people. This is not going to stop with Trump. He’s the first to burst through the gates but it is not stopping with him.

I heard it a thousand times when I worked in D.C., ‘if people knew what we were doing here they would storm the gates.’ And that’s what happing now. I just think they have the wrong human being as their figurehead.

What if we could take the energy on the Trump train and apply it to someone like Ted Cruz? Do you know the fear that D.C. would have if Ted Cruz had the lead that Trump has now? They fear Cruz because he’s an ideologue. He’s a pure conservative and he’ll go to the wall for it. They fear Cruz because they know what he’d do if he was president.

The focus on an outsider should be a candidate that D.C. actually fears!
