Does the establishment really fear Trump?

If your goal is to go at the establishment, why don’t you use the tool that the establishment fears most? They don’t fear Donald Trump. Trump himself says he buys politicians. He’s not an unknown quantity. There are tons of people like Trump in D.C.

When I was in D.C., I heard about a “madman” who was taking over the Republican Party in Texas. The establishment was scared to death of him. They said we’ve got to stop him. That was Ted Cruz.

Cruz didn’t want to just come up with a bunch of new bills and laws. We have enough laws. What D.C. fears is not someone who is a buyer or a seller. What they fear most are the true believers; people who actually want to completely get rid of things like ObamaCare.

Cruz is viewed as unreasonable because he has not been willing to play the game. Even if the government shutdown was bad optics he wasn’t willing to stand down.

If it’s the establishment you want to aim at, you don’t use a lobbyist to do it. And Trump is a lobbyist with his own money. Cruz talks the talk and he walks the walk and he is hated for it. But he has principles that he stands up for.
