Are the Seattle Mariners guaranteed to win the pennant?

Mariners manager Scott Servais said the team is off to a good start with its 7-0 win over San Diego Wednesday. So that means we can expect the Mariners to go all the way to the World Series, right?

Well, not exactly.

“After extensive studies I can tell you there is no correlation between spring training success and regular season success,” 710 ESPN Seattle’s Danny O’Neil told KIRO Radio’s Dave Ross. “That goes for teams and players.”

However, there were some positives for the franchise. James Paxton, for example, struck out the first batter he faced.

So while there are no guarantees, it’s a good start.
