High winds could close 520 bridge

With high winds rolling across the Northwest, WSDOT is paying special attention to the 520 bridge.

The Washington State Patrol says, “We don’t anticipate this happening but if 520 needs to be closed for safety, it could happen.”

There are a few things that would have to fall into place before a decision to close the 520 bridge would be made.

The 520 bridge would have to sustain 50 mph winds for 15 minutes or visibility would have to be so poor, it could become dangerous for drivers to cross.

If it gets bad, the 520 bridge will be closed on the last exit before the bridge on each side.
