New $100 bill finally debuting Tuesday

The $100 bill gets a radical overhaul with a new watermark blue security ribbon and other security features.(newmoney.gov)

If you’re still a fan of carrying cash, a new $100 bill is coming to your wallet starting Tuesday.

The significantly changed bills feature a new watermark, blue security ribbon, raised print, a gold 100, and microprinting, according to newmoney.gov.

“It will be easier for the public to authenticate, but more difficult for counterfeiters to replicate.”

Among the security features are a moving 3-D security stripe, a bell hidden inside the gold inkwell that changes color and a new engraving process that gives it a distinctive feel.

The new design was unveiled in 2010, but newmoney.gov says its introduction was postponed because of unexpected delays.
